He was driving down the road, heard a really really loud boom (the kind you feel in your chest, like from fireworks), then his car quit. He didn't get out (which, apparently, you shouldn't get out after your car's been struck by lightning), and flagged down a cop who was sitting there tornado spotting but somehow managed to miss the strike. His radio and wipers still worked, but everything else was dead.
Now, the car starts. There is only a small nubbin of an antennae remaining, a flat tire, and some sort of burn hole/mark/thing where it went through the back of the car.
But he's fine. And now I can say my brother's been struck by lightning. :~)
wow. 1) I'm really glad he's okay. 2) I think it's kind of hilarious that no one asked. Sure it was assumed since you posted, but still... 3) I really love you guys! (titter.)

I kind of share Curtis' sentiments. I wish the table I linked to included the odds of being hit by lightning while in a car.
Meh. I still think it's fascinating. He was part of the object lightning chose to ground itself.
And it would be interesting to know the odds while in a vehicle.
